This superb house, originally dating back to the 12th century, has been beautifully and sympathetically restored by the owners. There is an excellent large kitchen and cave area, a wonderfully spacious lounge and wooden beams throughout. Set in 7 hectares of meadow (approx. 18 acres), bordered by a stream and trees, it is within walking distance of the River Dordogne and 5 minutes drive to canoe rental for exploring one of the most beautiful rivers in France. The charming medieval town of Martel, with its twice-weekly traditional covered market, is close by, as are some of the best regional restaurants in the surrounding villages and towns. Superb situation, very secluded and quiet. The whole area is full of amazing birds and wild-life, ideal for nature lovers and a photographers paradise.
Although only having 2 bedrooms on the second floor (a double and a twin), there is a comfortable sofa bed on the first floor which can be screened off to provide extra sleeping accommodation for 2 further guests. Visitors to this lovely house will understand why further bedrooms could not be formed without spoiling the ambience and charm of this fantastic property.
