The property is only 15 minutes from the fascinating medieval town of Carcassonne, as well as being close to many of the region’s historical sites, towns and miles of sandy beaches. With its large private pool, sun terrace and extensive garden, this property is ideal for a group of friends or family of up to 6 people. Downstairs there is a lovely bright lounge with comfy sofas and doors leading out to the large garden. The well equipped kitchen with additional table and the spacious dining room will provide you with all that is necessary to make the most of your self catering holiday. Upstairs are the 3 nicely finished bedrooms comprising of a large master bedroom and the other two bedrooms with both double and single beds. There is a family shower room and a wet room. Also upstairs is a tv room with Uk channels. The property has an exceptionally large garden and together with the large pool and sunny terrace, you will be able to enjoy the delights of al fresco living. A pretty river runs through the bottom of the garden. A holiday in this region for the food alone is well worth it. The owner of the property provides information on all the places and restaurants to visit. There is a bakery just across the road where you can buy your bread and croissants daily. It is advisable to have a car but you really don’t have to go far for excellent restaurants, bars, markets to say the least. Wine lovers will enjoy the abundance of vineyards surrounding the house, giving ample opportunity to try the many local speciality wines and some of the best wines in the world! Wine tasting classes are provided in the village for those who would like to sample and learn about the local wines. Bikes are available to hire at the property. Secure parking for several cars. Verzeilles village: A peaceful village typical of the region with it’s relaxed pace of life. Mirepoix: A small town with timber framed houses. Try to visit on a Monday for the local market. shaded in wonderful colors and interesting carvings. You can also experience the feel of a gothic style cathedral, Saint Maurice or the Saint Mary’s "rock” church. St Hilaire : With its beautiful Abbey, St Hilaire is only a 10 minute drive from Verzeilles. Limoux: The carnival town of Limoux is always a hive of activity and a great place to go for a coffee. You can also visit other fortresses and castles around this area ( Foix, Castelnaudary, Camon, Pamiers, Montsegur) or even go to the seaside if you are looking for some fun on the beautiful beaches nearby. If you are a nature enthusiast you are free to explore the wonders of the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Natural Regional Park and if you are lucky you can catch the annual Apple festival in October where you can enjoy fresh apple juice, tarte au pomme and real tasty French toffee apples. Attractions of the Languedoc region With its wonderful climate, rich wildlife, beautiful coastline, scenery, culture and history, the Languedoc region is one of the most fascinating in France. Carcassonne: The area is renowned for the many Cathar castles and the wonderful medieval fortress town of Carcassonne is only a 15 minute drive from Verzeilles. A Unesco World Heritage Site, Carcassonne is built on a a rocky hilltop and with its 53 watch towers, the fortified city has an almost fairy-tale facade. As one of Languedoc’s major tourist attractions, a visit during Spring or Autumn is particularly recommended to avoid the crowds. During the summer months a visit later in the day would be a good option to discover the town’s medieval charm. Cycling is very popular in Carcassonne and it is usually involved in the Tour de France each year. Markets on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Canal du Midi: The largest ever UNESCO World Heritage site, the Canal du Midi stretches from Toulouse to the Mediteranean sea. This tree-lined canal is the epitome of the slow, relaxed lifestyle of the South of France. You can experience the beautiful canal by boat, walking or cycling The Camargue: A visit to the Camargue is a must, famous for its white horses and pink flamingos. Beaches: The Mediterranean beaches are just over an hour’s drive and are some of the most beautiful beaches in the South of France.
