Property Description 

Tiled kitchen with dishwasher, 4-burner cooker with oven, expresso machine, food processor, microwave. Tiled Dining Room with a large table.  There is also a highchair for babies and a wood-burning stove for chilly weather. Sitting Room has comfy armchairs and a sofa, also with a wood-burner, DVD player with screen and telephone. Double doors leading out to sheltered courtyard with teak table and 8 chairs.  Utility room with a washing machine, sink and small fridge and a cool larder with fridge/freezer.

Five bedrooms in total, two double, one twin and two singles.  A cot is also available.   The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and loo, while a large bathroom with shower and loo serves the other bedrooms.

Area/Local Activities

The house is set in hilly countryside east of the Rhone, surrounded by smallholdings and woodland. In an area known for its hilltop villages, the nearest town is Montélimar (18 km), which bustles with shops, supermarkets, cafes and bars. La Bégude de Mazenc (5 km) provides the nearest restaurant, boulangerie, corner shop, doctor and weekly market. It also has a tabac, chemist, post office and the Office de Tourisme. Tennis is only 2 km away, excellent golf within 15km, lots of pony-trekking and unlimited walking and cycling. There are walking maps at the house and more information is available at the Office de Tourisme. For the more adventurous, there is rafting in the Ardèche, rock climbing and karting.

La Touche is in the heart of the famous Côtes de Rhône wine region, and there are many local vineyards and caves cooperatives for tasting and buying. Well-known appelations such as Chateauneuf-de-Pape, Gigondas, Rasteau, Beaumes de Venise and Crozes Hermitage are all close by.

Orange, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Valence and Vaison-la-Romaine also make ideal day trips. Montélimar is famed as the ‘Nougat Capital’ of France, while Nyons produces olives and lavender essence is distilled in the surrounding countryside. Local honey and fruit are also sold in markets throughout the Drome. There are plenty of restaurants in the villages near La Touche, from hale and hearty eateries to renowned French cuisine.
