Property Description
Located in Paris' diverse 13th District, combining the old and the new, the apartment is one of six across a treed courtyard from a second small apartment building. One enters a central hallway, with a walk-in closet at one end, a bathroom, full kitchen with gas stove and oven, refrigerator and freezer, double sink and microwave, and a bedroom with twin beds on the right, all over-looking the courtyard; on one's left is the living-dining room and the master-bedroom with a double bed. All rooms, except the bathroom with a single small, vented window, have a large shuttered window providing both light and cross ventilation. The floors are wood and the ceilings are high. Water, the stove and heat are gas-based; all rooms have individually controlled radiators.
Access to the internet is available and the apartment has TV with a DVD player. Both the living room and the master bedroom have desks. One exits the street through an unlocked wrought-iron gate and then accesses the courtyard via a coded glass door. The apartment building has another coded door and the apartment is entered through a steel security door.
Area/Local Activities
Paris' 13th District is becoming an increasingly attractive place to live, combining the old and the new. Situated in an older area with a mix of local residents and innumerable bakeries, pastry shops, restaurants, twice a week street market, fruit stands, small grocery stores, Chinatown, the apartment is a five minute walk to the left bank of the Seine, the Biblioteque Nationale, the new Avenue de France, a Cinema complex, new University campus, footbridge across the Seine to Parc Bercy, a closed swimming pool on the Seine, etc., etc..
At the same time, one has easy access to greater Paris and the usual tourist sites; it is a five minute walk to the line 14 Metro, the RER C and bus 27 stops in front of the apartment. One can be in central Paris in 10-15 minutes and Notre Dame is a brisk 30 minute walk along the Seine. All in all, one has the best of both worlds: a lived-in world with local residents and all the attractions and amenities of a neighborhood, plus easy access to the world of the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower!
