One acre is woodland, with the rest of the grounds being laid to lawn, with several mature trees, shrubs and fruit trees, and a working well. •Our 'secret garden' is separated from the main grounds by our driveway, is secluded and is often in shade. Perfect for anyone wanting to be outdoors, yet out of the glare of the sun, especially small children and the elderly. •Outdoor entertainment includes a swing, rope ladder etc., a basketball ring and two football goals - there is enough space for a full size football pitch! •At the side of the house there is a patio with tables, chairs and a chiminée BBQ. La Métairie is situated just under one mile from the bridge over the Loire that takes you into the heart of Saumur, with breathtaking views of the Loire River and the famous fairy-tale Château rising high on the hill above the town.
Saumur town centre is pedestrianised and boasts many fine restaurants, bars and shops to suit all tastes. From speciality meat shops to cheese shops, boulangeries and pâtisseries. Beautiful gift shops, perfumeries and clothes shops are plentiful. A good selection of cafés and bars offer the perfect excuse to relax and watch the world go by.
One of the most famous aspects of this region has to be the Loire wines. There are hundreds of vineyards to choose from within a few miles of La Métairie. Saumur and the surrounding region offer numerous activities to suit all tastes, and ages, including: •Horse riding – several Equestrian Centres •Pony trekking •Golf – including one of the top 15 courses at Baugé •Fishing •Tennis •Cycling •Walking – Nature and Heritage Trails •Swimming Pools •Theatres and Cinemas •Watersports – canoeing, water-skiing, yachting, rowing.
