An old converted barn, is situated in a quiet, traffic free, secluded rural area, yet close to all amenities.The large garden and pool are at your disposal. Close to Trie sur Baise, in the foothills of the Pyrenees with Spain and Lourdes are easily accessed.
The barn has been recently converted, just for 2 people, and is not part of a larger complex. The old beams dating back to the Napoleonic wars can be seen throughout the property. It has been comfortably furnished throughout. The large upstairs lounge with it's balcony looks out over the large shady garden and pool. Guests are welcome to use the garden and pool at any time and the owners are always available to offer any advice or assistance. A number of airlines fly direct from airports across the UK to this region of France. Depending on your choice of departure airport. Bordeaux, Bergerac, Carcassonne, Lourdes, Pau and Toulouse airports are within 1 - 3 hours driving time from Tuquet. Airlines currently serving the area are British Airways, easyjet, Jet2.com, CityJet, FlyBe and Ryanair. The motorway system offers easy access to the area.
The local town of Trie sur Baïse (2.5kms) offers all the basic requirements – Bank ATM, bakers, butchers, paper shop and greengrocer are all situated around the pretty main square where a bustling market is held every Tuesday. On the outskirts is a supermarket with a filling station.
From May onwards the town offers various attractions including a Classical Music Weekend, antiques and night markets as well as the local fete in August with the infamous Porcailhade; a week of entertainment; the local racecourse holds it’s annual meeting in early August. Nearby Mirande (25kms) has an International Country and Western week in mid July and Marciac (34kms) holds it’s famous International Jazz Festival, attracting well-known artistes, in early August. Other villages and towns have their annual fetes and Festivals throughout the summer, details of which are well publicised locally. Golf, fishing, horse riding, tennis, rafting, cycling, bird watching, painting and walking are among the many activities that can be enjoyed in the area. There are many places to visit in the Pyrenees,including the well known UNESCO site - Cirque de Gavarnie, and we can advise on each location.
